The Difference between Coaching and Consulting w/ Shawn Quintero (Vault Episode)

Podcast Episode #277: The Difference between Coaching and Consulting w/ Shawn Quintero

11-08-2022

business coaching & consulting

What's the Difference Between Business Coaching & Consulting?

It seems that the words coaching & consulting have almost become interchangeable in the business world.

Are they really the same thing?

While they are similar, they are quite different in function and how they are going to show up with their clients.

A consultant is something who will…

  • help you find the problem
  • come up with a solution based on their own experience and understanding of your industry
  • will use a lot of data, analysts, audits, feedback, etc. to help them arrive at a solution

A coach will…

  • ask YOU powerful questions
  • YOU get to discover the answer or solution
  • is more internally driven that external factors

Knowing which one you need and who you need to hire is the first step.

It's equally as important that the person you are hiring actually knows the difference as well and is going to show up as they say they are going to.

Meet Shawn

ShawnQ has built a 6-figure marketing agency that works with Faith-based entrepreneurs, non-profits & churches. What started with a simple “I can’t afford your event ticket, but can I volunteer” email turned into an incredible journey where he’s had the opportunity to work with Ryan Deiss, Michael Stelzner, Mikael Yang, Rachel Pedersen, Jaime Cross, and a host of other 2-comma influencers. He believes in the power of Purposeful Profit – he doesn’t want the lambo, rolex, or mansion. Instead, he wants to change the world by using his wealth to build schools, dig wells, and rescue people from human trafficking.

Favorite Quotes from this Episode

  • ‘Be intentional about surrounding yourself with next level people.'
  • ‘Ensure your client knows how you're going to show up so they can know what to expect.'

Key Takeaway

  • Consistently being around other people who are doing things you've never done before opens up your mind to ask the ‘how' questions instead of ‘is it possible?'. You can see it's possible so you begin to ask, how do I make that possible for me?
